About the Tata Wild Geese Festival
Useful tips and warnings
All professional programs of the event are free of charge.
The main event of the Tata Wild Geese Festival takes place every year on the last Saturday of November, on the eastern shore of the Old Lake in Tata near the Builders’ Park (Építők parkja).
On the evening before the event, we prepare lectures at the Malom and Kacsa event houses.
The Tata Wild Geese Festival is primarily an outdoor festival. The weather at the end of November is unpredictable, but generally damp and cold. Please wear layered, waterproof clothing, as well as warm, waterproof and comfortable footwear!
For birdwatching, please bring binoculars and a camera!
Wake-up and departure times of the geese, as well as their return in the late afternoon cannot be predicted exactly (a sea eagle, noise or light effects can cause panic and may make the geese take flight). If you want to make sure to see the geese take off, it is advisable to arrive at the lakeshore by 6:45 a.m. The first returning flocks can be expected from 3:30 p.m. onwards.
The times mentioned above are for late November. Generally, it is worth arriving at the lakeshore at dawn or about 1 hour before sunset.
The vendors at the fair will cater for you: sandwiches, roast meat, pastries, traditional lángos, sweet bread, coffee, tea, wine, mulled wine, etc., can be found at the food stalls.
We would like the catering to generate as little waste as possible, so we ask that you bring your own cup and sealable meal container to the event to help reduce the ecological footprint of the Tata Wild Geese Festival!
At the market, you can purchase handmade products. Our vendors, just like us, care about the environment, so their goods will be wrapped in paper. We suggest you bring adequate wrapping to keep your goods in perfect condition.
At the Tata Wild Geese Festival, we collect waste selectively. The programs are concentrated in a relatively small area, so the selective collection containers will not be far.
Please use them and collect waste selectively during our event!
Important notice
For the peace of the waterfowl resting on the lake, it is prohibited to stay in the water or on the ice and to use drones beyond the warning signs!
